Job Title: Special Needs Educator 

As a Special Needs Educator at our organisation, we welcome fresh graduates who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with special needs. In this role, you will receive comprehensive training and mentorship to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to provide quality education and support. You will work closely with students, families, and a multidisciplinary team to create inclusive learning environments and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Individualised Education Planning:

    • Collaborate with families, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.

    • Learn to conduct assessments to identify students' strengths, needs, and learning goals.

    • Assist in adapting and modifying curriculum materials, teaching strategies, and instructional methods to meet the unique needs of each student.

  2. Classroom Instruction:

    • Deliver instruction to students with special needs, under the guidance and support of experienced educators.

    • Implement various instructional techniques, materials, and technologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

    • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement, participation, and social-emotional development.

  3. Progress Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Learn to monitor students' progress and assist in assessing their academic, social, and behavioural development.

    • Contribute to maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, observations, and achievements.

    • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to review student progress and provide input on instructional strategies and interventions.

  4. Individualised Support and Differentiation:

    • Provide support to students based on guidance from experienced educators, including implementing remediation, accommodations, and modifications.

    • Assist in differentiating instruction to address a range of abilities, interests, and learning styles within the classroom.

    • Collaborate with therapists and support staff to integrate therapeutic goals and strategies into the educational program.

  5. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate with colleagues, therapists, and families to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to student support and development.

    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on student progress.

    • Develop effective communication skills to maintain open dialogue with parents and caregivers regarding students' educational goals, progress, and strategies for support.

  6. Professional Development:

    • Engage in comprehensive training and mentorship programs designed to enhance your knowledge and skills in working with students with special needs.

    • Stay updated on best practices, research, and advancements in special education through ongoing learning opportunities.

    • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning by actively participating in training sessions and sharing knowledge and resources with colleagues.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Diploma in Special Education/Early Childhood or a related field.

  • Genuine passion for working with individuals with special needs and making a positive impact on their lives.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and a multidisciplinary team.

  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a growth mindset.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to the specific needs of each student.

  • Ability to follow instructions and implement strategies provided by experienced educators.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning
